My approach

My approach is strongly informed by my multi-theoretical training and experience in psychodynamic psychotherapy and contemporary relational psychoanalysis. Because I believe everyone is unique and has different needs, I incorporate and utilize various ways of thinking about and understanding our work together.

My role is to help you first to explore and express your feelings, thoughts, and experiences — including normal but sometimes complex and uncomfortable fears and desires — in an open, nonjudgmental, and curious space.

While we begin to identify patterns and themes in your personal and relational past, we focus on the present and identify ways you can make sustainable changes going forward. Together we figure out what will work best for you.

My overall style can best be described as interactive, questioning, and wondering with you. I believe change best comes from the meeting of two (or more) minds — and the most useful discoveries about yourself occur in this context.
